The First Amendment of the Bill of Rights contains the vital freedom of the press that is being so maligned today.

The Bill of Rights were ratified on December 15, 1791 and the group Liberty Lives Forever encourages everyone to celebrate the occasion by reading and discussing the Bill of Rights in school classrooms, the workplace, with family and friends.

Today, more than ever, we need to understand our rights and freedoms. These rights have stood the test of time. We have been asked to join with other states around the country in the celebration. As members of the MAB, we urge you to consider covering the occasion in your own way in news, editorials, programming and on digital and social media

Gov. Gretchen Whitmer has produced a brief video commemorating the date through the National Center for Constitutional Studies.
