Cadillac Telecasting Company’s WFQX-TV (Cadillac) reports that they’ve returned to over-the-air opearation following the August 2018 fire at the shared WWTV-TV transmitter site in Tustin. Following the fire, a nationwide search was made to locate a sufficient substitute and an order was made for a custom built transmitter powerful enough to cover WFQX’s 30 plus county viewing area. On August 7, 2019, engineers made the proud announcement that the new transmitter is operational.
The transmitter restores service for the main Fox-affiliated channel as well as the CW and Ion Television subchannels to antenna viewers in northern Michigan. WFQX-TV and co-owned WFUP-TV (Vanderbilt) are operated under a shared services agreement with Heritage Broadcasting Company of Michigan.
